iRobot is a name that is quite famous in many households because of the ideal Roomba robot vacuums they produced. iRobot Braava Jet 240 is not a vacuum, though, as it belongs to the line of mopping robots produced by iRobot.

The iRobot Braava Jet 240 is an option among the line of mopping robots that is not only compact but also comes under an affordable price tag. The size of this robot helps it clean places most robots cannot reach, and the multi-mode option makes sure you get spotless clean floors.

Compact with a minimal design

The iRobot Braava Jet 240 measures about 6.7 by 7.0 by 3.3 inches (HWD), which is pretty small compared to other robots and is relatively small compared to other robots in the same category. You will also face no issues carrying the robot across different rooms since it weighs only 2.7 pounds and has a handle at the top.

The design of the iRobot Braava Jet 240 is minimal with a nice blue and white theme. There’s a blue ‘Clean’ button located at the top of the iRobot Braava Jet 240, which is used to start and stop the robot. Like most robots, the iRobot Braava Jet 240 also offers you to set up a virtual boundary that the iRobot Braava Jet 240 will not cross. To set up the boundary, you need to hold down the power button.

Water tank and battery

To access the water tank, you will have to lift the lid on the top of the robot. Here the switch to eject the cleaning pad will also be located. Unlike most cleaning robots, the iRobot 240 does not come with a dock to charge and instead uses a removable battery. The battery compartment on the back of the iRobot Braava Jet 240. Beneath the iRobot Braava Jet 240, you’ll find a place where the pad sits, a detector to find out which pad is attached, and your cliff sensors.

We get no specific time from iRobot on how long the Braava Jet 240 will keep mopping your floor before the battery runs out. This is understandable since not all floors are made equal, and the battery time can vary with each one. When used on wet mop mode, the iRobot took an hour to get our kitchen spotless. This time might seem much, but not all sessions take this long. Another room we have was cleaned in about 15 minutes and the time varied with different places in our home.

Places other robots had trouble reaching won’t be a problem with the iRobot as its compact size helps quite a bit here. It’s able to reach tightly fit places without any problems. The places underneath our cupboard and kitchen tables were spotless when the Braava Jet 240 was done cleaning.

Multiple cleaning modes

Wet mopping

The wet mopping mode will be able to clean an area of 150 sq feet, and the battery runs out pretty fast in this mode. This is due to the vibrations and complex movement the iRobot performs when in wet mopping mode. iRobot also claims this mode is close to how someone would mop the floor by hand. When cleaning in this mode, you will see the iRobot Braava Jet 240, passing three times on the same floor.

Damp sweeping

Consuming less water and battery, the goes over your floor twice in damp sweeping mode. Through this mode, you can cover an area of up to 250 sq feet.

Dry sweeping

As the name suggests, this mode uses no water, and the iRobot moves over your floor a single time. The dry sweeping mode can help the Braava Jet 240 cover up an area of 250 square feet.

The Braava Jet 240 comes with cleaning pads for wet mopping, damp sweeping, and dry sweeping.

The iRobot app

The iRobot Braava Jet 240 is completely functional without the app just like iRobot Roomba 880 Robot vacuum cleaner. However, pairing with the app will give you some benefits. You get some tutorials on the app along, and as the app is the same one iRobot used with its Roomba robot vacuums, through it, you can control the amount of water that is used in damp sweeping and wet mopping modes. Moreover, you can start and stop the robot without being close to it.

  • Lightweight and compact
  • Multiple cleaning modes
  • Replaceable battery

  • Must purchase washable or disposable replacement pads

iRobot Braava might need some help in cleaning out the toughest of stains, but it does a nice job in leaving your floors spotless. The robot is perfect for those living in small apartments and wants to keep their house clean with the least amount of effort. The robot also doesn’t break your bank and is the least expensive choice from iRobot. It also cleans tight places better than most robots. Overall it’s a nice addition to your home, keeping your floors spotless on a budget.
